Irish Relay Opens NCAA Championships Up Strong

AUSTIN, Texas — The first night of competition at the NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships came to a close Wednesday evening following the women’s 800m relay. The Irish finished 19th in the event with a time of 7:03.97.

Abbie Dolan led the meet off for the Irish, recording a 1:43.93 split time in the event. Lauren Heller dove into the pool next, posting a time of 1:46.21 before Skylar Fore touched the wall of the third leg in 1:47.21. Kyra Sarazen closed the evening race for the women with a 1:46.62 split as the anchor.

The Irish are back in the pool Thursday morning for the prelim session, with the first event scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. (9 a.m. CT). The finals will begin at 6 p.m. (5 p.m. CT) and are set to be broadcast live on ESPN3.

Fifteen swimmers and divers are scheduled to compete for the Irish over the four-day meet with 11 qualifying as individuals as well.
