SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Minnesota Swarm have announced the acquisition of former Notre Dame All-American Ryan Hoff. The Swarm also received a future 2011 second-round draft pick from the Rochester Knighthawks in exchange for goaltender Aaron Bold, forward Cody Johnson and defenseman Ian Rubel.
The Knighthawks selected Hoff, a forward, in the third round (34th overall) of the 2009 NLL Entry Draft.
In 2009, Hoff finished his career with the Fighting Irish ranked second all-time in school history in goals scored with 134. For the third straight season, Hoff led the Fighting Irish in goals with 32 tallies and helped lead the team to a program-record 15 wins, the Great Western Lacrosse League title and the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Baldwin, Maryland native was later named a third-team All-American and was a candidate for the prestigious Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award.
General Manager Marty O’Neill announced the trade on Wednesday, Oct. 14 and stated, “Ryan had an outstanding career at Notre Dame where he was one of the top players in the NCAA. He is a talented young forward who we see having the skills to translate to the indoor game.”
Hoff finished the 2009 season at Notre Dame with 35 points (32g, 3a) along with 27 ground balls while starting all 16 games. This past summer, the Chicago Machine selected Hoff in the third round (17th overall) of the 2009 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Collegiate Draft.
