Summer Baseball Rosters Set for 2018

NOTRE DAME, Ind.– University of Notre Dame baseball players will disperse across the country to take part in summer leagues before returning to campus this fall.

The Irish squad toutes three players in the Cape Cod League, most notably rising senior outfielder Eric Gilgenbach who earned third team all-Athletic Coast Conference honors this past season after recording a .270 batting average and totaling 30 runs, 11 doubles, 10 home runs and a team-high 45 RBI in 174 at bats for the Irish.

Power hitting INF/OF Eric Gilgenbach from @NDBaseball will join @WarehamGatemen this summer. Gilgenbach leads the Irish with 10 HR and 44 RBI. He is batting .279 with a .917 OPS and has 4 stolen bases.

The Irish also will have representatives in the Northwoods League, New England Collegiate Baseball League, California Collegiate League, and Washington County Civic League.

First baseman Niko Kavadas and catcher David LaManna enter summer ball after a successful debut season with the Irish. Kavadas, playing for the Kalamazoo Growlers of the Northwoods League, batted .299 last season with Notre Dame. He went 41-for-137 and tallied five doubles, five home runs and 20 RBI. LaManna also will spend the summer competing in the Northwoods League but will play with the Eau Claire Express. His .234 batting average and fielding percentage of .970 made him an immediate presence on the field for the Irish.

Andrew Belcik, a rising junior and right-handed pitcher for the Irish, joins teammate Kavadas on the Kalamazoo Growlers’ roster. Belcik posted a 4.93 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 45.2 innings pitched during the 2017-18 season.
