Junior Lindsey Streepey placed fourth on the 3-meter board Wednesday night at the ACC Championships.

Streepey Tabbed ACC Female Diver Of The Week

Nov. 4, 2014

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Three days after beating a former Olympian, University of Notre Dame women’s diving standout Lindsey Streepey has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Female Diver of the Week.

One of three proven veterans on the Irish women’s diving roster and a one-time ACC Female Diver of the Week honoree, Streepey put together another steady performance this past Saturday against No. 24 Purdue. Facing off against the Boilermakers’ Mary Beth Dunnichay, a 2008 Olympian in the 10-meter synchronized diving event, Streepey totaled 313.28 points to beat Dunnichay (305.25) by eight points on the 3-meter board.

Elsewhere on the 1-meter, Streepey claimed third with 301.27 points to finish behind Dunnichay and teammate Allison Casareto.

In the first meet since the Irish divers spent some time in Atlanta over fall break, Streepey was still buzzing over the team’s trip to the Peach State after her big win on the 3-meter. After competing against Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Auburn and Vanderbilt over the course of two days, the men’s and women’s divers remained in Atlanta from Sunday to Thursday of fall break to get some extra practice in while allowing some fun among the hard work.

“We got to dive platform at Georgia Tech’s pool everyday, which is the site of this year’s ACC meet,” said Streepey. “We also went to the Georgia Aquarium thanks to the Notre Dame Monogram Club and we hiked a mountain, which was a blast. The whole trip was a great team bonding experience. We accomplished a lot and really polished our dives.”

An all-BIG EAST performer on the platform as a freshman, Streepey claimed sixth place on the 1-meter board at last year’s ACC Championships. Now as a junior, the Dallas, Texas native has already punched her ticket to the NCAA Zone C meet in the 1- and 3-meter events, and will look to qualify on the platform in the coming month.

Streepey and her Irish teammates return to action this weekend when ACC foes Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech invade Rolfs Aquatics Center for a two-day meet. The double dual meet gets underway at 5 p.m. Friday and wraps up beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. Fans can follow the meet through live stats or the Meet Mobile app both days or WatchND’s free online video stream Saturday.
