Associate Athletic Trainer; Football
Steve Smith joined the Notre Dame sports medicine department as an assistant athletic trainer in August 2011, overseeing the Irish men’s soccer team as well as the women’s tennis team. He has previously worked with the Irish womenâ?TMs lacrosse team as well. Prior to his arrival, Smith was an assistant athletic trainer at Eastern Michigan University. While at Eastern Michigan, Smith was responsible for the men’s basketball team, as well as women’s volleyball and women’s crew.
Smith earned a Master’s degree while working as a graduate assistant at Grand Valley State University. As a graduate assistant Smith worked with both the football and baseball teams. Smith has also spent multiple summers covering summer camps at Notre Dame as a student athletic trainer. Smith earned his bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University in 2007.
Smith is a native of Negaunee, Mich., lives in Granger, IN and has an 18-month-old son, Wyatt.
