Bio

Robert Stiner is in his first year in 2018 as assistant director of football strength and conditioning at Notre Dame. He is a certified strength and conditioning coach through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association.

Stiner joined the Notre Dame staff after a one-year stint at the University of Cincinnati (2017), where he served as an assistant director of football sports performance. He assisted in the design and implementation of training protocol, taught proper lifting technique, tested and analyzed data. Stiner also served as the nutrition liaison for the student-athletes. He worked with various forms of technology including Zephyr, GPS, Omegawave, EliteForm and NovoTHOR bed.

Prior to his tenure with the Bearcats, Stiner worked at Florida International University (2016).

Stiner was the director of strength and conditioning at the University of Central Arkansas for three years (2014-16). He directed the strength and conditioning program for every Bears program and focused his work football, baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s soccer and track and field squads. Stiner also established and implemented nutrition protocols for student-athletes and designed training programs for the Conway SWAT Team and University of Central Arkansas Police Department and Central Arkansas Police Academy.

Stiner came to Central Arkansas from Mississippi State where he was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for three years (2012-14). He had previous stops as an intern at LSU (2011-12), strength and conditioning graduate assistant at Valdosta State (2009-11), along with internships at Baylor (2010) and the U.S. Olympic Training Center (2009).

While in Colorado Springs, Stiner worked with multiple Olympic Sports including judo, men’s and women’s freestyle wrestling, men’s greco-roman wrestling, modern pentathlon, figure skating, bobsled, skeleton, speed skating and various disciplines of the shooting sports.

Stiner started his strength and conditioning career as a volunteer assistant at Belhaven (2008).

He was a four-year starter at defensive end and team captain at Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi. Stiner earned Mid-South All-Conference honors in both 2006 and 2007. He also captured the 2007 Belhaven Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year Award.

Stiner received his bachelor’s degree in sports administration from Belhaven in 2008 and earned his master’s of education in health and physical education from Valdosta State University in 2011.

Stiner and his wife, Briana, live in South Bend.
