NOTRE DAME, Ind. – With sweeps in the diving and relay events, St. Bonaventure was able to hold off the visiting Notre Dame men’s swimming team, 124-107, in a dual meet Saturday.

Despite the loss, the Irish still managed to win six of the nine individual swimming events. Notre Dame junior John Lubker captured first in the 1000 freestyle by beating teammate Sean Casey with a time of 9:53.04. One event later, junior Ray Fitzpatrick won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:42.22. After a win by St. Bonaventure’s Ernest Teo in the 50 freestyle, Notre Dame senior Scott Zumbach placed first in the 200 IM by beating teammate Rob Fetter, who had edged him out of first place on Friday in Notre Dame’s 124-99 victory over Buffalo.

Irish sophomore Ryan Verlin claimed the 200 butterfly for the second straight night with a time of 1:53.60, while Lubker (500 freestyle) and sophomore Dan Szilier (200 breaststroke) rounded out Notre Dame’s winners.
