The Notre Dame baseball team (3-6) begins its annual Spring Break with an early-morning game vs. Sacred Heart at Jack Russell Stadium in Clearwater, Fla. (Match 10; 10:00 a.m.) … note that Sunday’s first game, vs. Duquesne, has been pushed back to start an hour later at 11:00 a.m. … sophomore RHP David Phelps is slated to start today’s game for the Irish while Sacred Heart is expected to throw its ace RHP Jay Monti … the Irish have faced many challenges this season, including a grueling travel schedule (the ND contingent completed its 10-hour trip Friday night by arriving at the hotel at 1:00 a.m.) … ND’s probable rotation for the rest of the weekend includes junior LHP Wade Korpi vs. Duquesne and senior RHP Dan Kapala vs. Harvard (2:15, on Sunday) … this marks the 10th straight season that the Irish have made at least one trip to Florida (ND is 34-10/.773 in Florida during the current decade, including 8-3 in the 2006 and ’07 seasons.
