Years At Notre Dame:
6th Season

A December 2013 Xavier graduate and two-year staff member of the Xavier University volleyball team, Kevin Prendergast joined the University of Notre Dame volleyball program as the operations specialist in March 2014 and enters his sixth year with the Irish in 2019.

Prendergast, who graduated from Xavier in December with a degree in sport management, assists the Irish program with practices, matches and travel in addition to other daily responsibilities. He also uses the computer program Data Volley to scout opponents by creating detailed statistical reports.

With Xavier, Prendergast was the volleyball team’s Technical Advisor under the direction of former Musketeers head coach and current Notre Dame  head coach Mike Johnson. Prendergast was responsible for Data Volley, which helped tally stats on the Musketeers and their opponents. Prendergast also put together film on opponents and worked on in-game trends to pass along to the coaching staff.

Prendergast learned Data Volley from Nate Ngo, the current Technical Advisor for the U.S. Men’s National Team.

He has designed a number of statistical models for use in volleyball and continues to look for additional ways to analyze the game.

A men’s club volleyball player at Xavier in 2011-12, Prendergast served as the service chair for the team during the year.

Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Prendergast graduated from De Smet Jesuit High School.
