AS A SENIOR:

• Earned First Team All-American status by placing fourth in the 800m with a time of 1:47.62 at the Indoor NCAA Championships
• Runner-up at the Outdoor ACC Championships with a then career-best time of 1:46.86.
• Runner-up at the Indoor ACC Championships  by crossing the line in 1:48.39.
• Took home Second Team All-America honors with a 10th place finish at Outdoor NCAA Championships with a mark of 1:47.91.
• Won the 800m at the Notre Dame Invitational to start the 2021 indoor season with a time of 1:48.81.

AS A JUNIOR:

• Claimed the ACC title in the men’s 800m in a photo finish with a time of 1:50.03, winning by .37 seconds
• Ran the 1200m leg of the DMR at the ACC Indoor Championships and won the conference title in the event as the team finished with a time of 9:43.55
• Ran the 800m leg of the DMR at the Alex Wilson Invitational as the Irish team won the race in a photo finish with a time of 9:25.80, just .04 seconds ahead of Wisconsin. The time of 9:25.80 was not only the program, track and ACC record but also the second fastest time ever recorded in NCAA indoor track and field history for the event. Following the performance, the Irish DMR team was named ACC Track Performers of the Week
• Placed second in the 800m at the Meyo Invitational with a career-best time of 1:49.22, the third-fastest time in the ACC in the 2020 season
• Crossed the line first in the 1000m at the Notre Dame Invitational with a PR of 2:24.05
• Named to the 2020 Men’s All-ACC Academic Team

AS A SOPHOMORE:

• Helped the Irish capture the title in the DMR at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, running the 800-meter leg
• Named a First Team All-American for the DMR win
• ACC champion with the DMR, earning All-ACC First-Team honors (9:38.85)
• Posted a PR in the 800 meters (1:51.87) at the ACC Indoor Championships
• Finished in first place with the Notre Dame DMR entry (9:26.10) at the Alex Wilson Invitational
• Established a PR in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:25.92 at the Notre Dame Invitational
• Placed first in the 800-meter run (1:52.80) and finished as the runner-up in the 4×400-meter relay (3:18.76) at the Blue and Gold Invitational
• Competed at the NCAA East Region Prelims in the 800m (1:50.80).
• Recorded a PR in the 800m at the ACC Outdoor Championships, where he finished first in the prelims (1:50.05)

PREP AND PERSONAL:

• Transferred to Notre Dame from DePauw University
• Attended New Palestine High School
• Was the 2017 Indiana state Champion in the 800 meters
• Named New Balance All-American following a fifth-place finish in the 800
• Won the 800 at the Midwest Meet of Champions
• Sectional and regional champion in the 800m, 4x400m relay and 4x800m relay during his senior year
• Was a nine-time varsity letter-winner in high school (track, basketball & cross country)
• Finished fourth in the 800m at the D-III NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships
• Son of James and Krysha Voelz
• Has three sisters, Caroline, Grace and Elizabeth
• Intends to study economics
