AS A SENIOR: Did not compete during the track & field season.

AS A JUNIOR:Competed in 11 meets during the indoor/outdoor track & field season … began the indoor season season with a ninth place finish in the 60m dash (7.32) and a third place finish in long jump (6.76m) … placed seventh in the long jump (6.45m) at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational … began outdoor season with an impressive performance at the Victor Lopez Invitational, placing third in the long jump (7.17m) … competed in two events at the Border Battle, placing seventh in the 100m dash (11.09) and fourth in the long jump (7.11m) … concluded the outdoor season with a sixth place finish in the long jump (7.14m) at the Billy Hayes Invitational … earned a monogram.

AS A SOPHOMORE: Competed in the Blue & Gold Invitational … finished fifth and set a personal-best in the pole vault with a height of 4.00m … finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.58m.

AS A FRESHMAN:Competed in six indoor and outdoor track & field events on the year … finished third and set a personal-best throw in the javelin (42.85m) at the EIU Big Blue Classic & Multi’s meet … personal bests as a freshman: 60m (7.48), 100m (11.60), 400m (52.66), 500m (1:10.66), 110 hurdles (20.38), and 4x400m relay (3:31.90) running events … racked up season best in pole vault (3.40m), long jump (6.63m), shot put (10.04m), discus and javelin (42.85m) … finished 11th in the decathlon at the EIU Big Blue Classic & Multi’s gathering together 5,343 points.

HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL:Carson James Barnes graduated from Baldwin High School in the spring of 2011 … lettered four times each in cross country and track & field and once in basketball … helped 4x400m relay team to state title as a freshman … finished third at state in the 300m dash in a personal best 40.42 … also finished third in the long jump with a leap of 21-11.75 and third in the 4x400m relay … placed seventh at nationals in the intermediate division of the decathlon as a sophomore … earned all-state honors as a freshman and senior … earned conference, sectional, regional and state championships throughout career … helped team finish second, third and fourth at state as a freshman, sophomore and junior, respectively … team won state as a senior … also participated in FCA, 4-H and the engineering team … was the President of his high school senior class … earned the Principles Leadership award … helped RWDC Engineering team win national championship as a junior and finish third as a senior … born to Mark and Sandy Barnes in Olathe, Kan. … has an older sister, Lauren, and a younger sister, Kaitlyn … sister, Lauren, also attends Notre Dame … mother, Sandy, played college volleyball … enrolled in the College of Engineering and is majoring in mechanical engineering.
