AS A SOPHOMORE:Competed in three meets during the cross country season … finished 10th out of 27 runners in the Crusader Invitational 6K (19:55.2) … placed 11th out of 77 runners in the JV National Catholic Championship 5m (27:10) … placed 56th out of 100 runners in the JV Notre Dame Invitational 5m (27:31.8) … competed in four meets during the indoor track & field season … earned a first place finish among three runners in the Blue & Gold Invitational 3,000m run.
AS A FRESHMAN: Ran in the first three cross country meets of the season … opened year with a 14thplace finish out of 36 runners at the 6K Crusader Invitational (20:12.3) … took seventh out of 77 runners in the five mile JV race at the National Catholic Championship (26:35.3) … also ran in the five mile gold race at the Notre Dame Invitational … did not compete during either track & field season … named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL:Graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel (Ashton, Md.) in the spring of 2012 … 12-time letter winner in cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field … named three-time all-conference (2009, 2011 2012) and twice named Washington Metro Area Honorable Mention (2011, 2012) … assisted track team to a conference championship (2011, 2012) and to a Private School State Championship (2012) … set school records in the 4x800m relay junior year and in the 5K senior year … elected MVP in cross country (2011, 2012) and track & field (2012) … earned the Award for Athleticism senior year … was active in the classroom as a retreat leader for Xaverian Leadership Institute, a member of the Xaverian Brother[apos]s Sponsored School[apos]s Leadership team and as a member of St. Mary[apos]s Scholar[apos]s group … earned the Religious Achievement Award (2011) and the highest GPA for sophomore class (2010) … father, John, ran cross country and track at Notre Dame … full name is John Thomas Riely … born in Takoma Park, Md. … son of John and Patricia Riely … has one brother and three sisters … enrolled in the College of Engineering and is majoring in mechanical engineering.
