AS A SOPHOMORE: Participated in three meets for the Irish cross country team … placed seventh overall and third on the team at the Valparaiso Invitational … took second at the National Catholic Championship JV race in 26:40 … dropped his time on the Notre Dame home course 27 seconds to place 66th in the Notre Dame Invitational Gold race two weeks later (26:13) … tried his hand at several distances during the indoor campaign … ran 8:53.64 over 3,000 meters at the Notre Dame Opener … posted a time of 4:24.21 in the mile at the Notre Dame Invitational … ran the 5,000 meters at the Meyo Invitational, covering the distance in 15:40.11 … did not compete during the 2007 outdoor track season.

AS A FRESHMAN: Top performance of the indoor season came at the Blue & Gold Invitational when he ran 16:19.90 over 5,000 meters … improved upon that time in the outdoor campaign, running 16:06.3 at the Notre Dame Opener.

HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL: Seven-time letterwinner in cross country and track at St. Xavier High School … earned academic all-state accolades as a junior in cross country … member of eight regional championship-winning teams … also participated on three state championship-winning teams … an all-regional team selection in cross country as a senior … served as the team captain in both sports during his senior year … cross country team MVP as a senior … personal bests include 4:35 in the 1,600m, 9:53 in the 3,200m, and 16:23 over 5,000m in cross country … member of student government, National Honor Society, and campus ministry at St. Xavier … son of John, Sr. and Moira Daly … oldest of eight children … uncle, Tim Diamond, ran cross country and track at Notre Dame, while grandfather Gene Diamond, Sr., also ran track for the Irish … born Oct. 13, 1986 in Clarendon Hills, Ill. … enrolled in the College of Arts and Letters (3.937 cumulative grade-point average through spring 2006 semester) … exceptional student-athlete who has earned Dean’s List honors in each of his first two semesters, notching a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall 2005 term and a 3.875 GPA in the spring 2006 semester.
