2020 Notre Dame ACC Team Member

As A Sophomore (2019-20)

  • Placed sixth in the 400-yard IM (3:52.11).  Placed seventh in the 200-yard IM (1:48.60).  Placed eighth in the 200-yard Butterfly (1:47.90).  Participated in the 800-yard Freestyle Relay with Max Miranda, Cason Wilburn, and Will Barao (6:37.54) in the second place finish at the Ohio State Fall Open Invitational.
  • Participated in the 200-yard Butterfly (1:49.20). Participated in the 200-yard Breaststroke (2:05.83). Participated in the 200-yard IM (1:50.43) against Iowa.
  • Placed first in the 200-yard IM (1:49.50). Participated in the 200-yard Butterfly (1:49.86 ). Participated in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay with Jack Hoagland, Zachary Smith, and Brendan Santana (3:05.11) against Northwestern.
  • Placed first in the 200-yard IM (1:47.97).  Placed second in the 400-yard IM (3:48.63).  Placed third in the 800-yard Freestyle Relay with Max Miranda, Jack Hoagland, and Luke Thornbrue (6:35.72).  Participated in the 200-yard Butterfly (1:47.98).  Participated in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay with Max Miranda, Jack Montesi, and Zachary Smith (3:00.20).  Participated in the 200-yard Freestyle with Rex Riley, Josh Bottelberghe, and Jack Montesi (1:23.34) in the Shamrock Invitational.
  • Placed third in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:39.48) in the win against Michigan State, Ball State, and Indiana State.
  • Participated in the 200-yard IM (1:46.83).  Participated in the 400-yard IM (3:50.22).  Participated in the 200-yard Fly (1:46.25) at the ACC Championship.

FRESHMAN ACCOMPLISHMENTS (2018-19):

  • Broke the 400m IM school record

PREP AND PERSONAL:

  • Competed for Szombathelyi Vizmu Swim Club.
  • Went to the European Youth Olympic Games where he finished first in the 400 IM and third in the 400 free relay.
  • Finished second in the 200 and 400 IMs at the 2016 European Junior Championships.
  • Qualified for the 2017 European Junior Championships where he placed second in the 200 IM and 400 free relay.
  • At the 2017 World Junior Championships finished first in the 400 and 800 free relays, second in the 400 IM and third in the 200 IM.
  • Spent one year as an exchange student in Georgia where he competed for the high school team.
  • Won the Georgia State Championship in the 200 IM in his sophomore year.
  • Native of Szombathely, Hungary.
  • Son of Balazs Barta and Andrea Hozensteiner.
  • Has two sisters, Hanna and Sara.
  • Enrolled in First Year of Studies.
