  • Broke the program record for points in a season with 77, passing his older brother Matt’s mark of 75
  • Set the program record for assists in a season for the third time in his career, finishing with 52 on the year
  • Finished the season ranked second in the country in assists per game, averaging 3.25
  • Recorded three or more points in 14 of 16 games, including seven of five or more points
  • Ranked second on the team in ground balls per game, averaging 2.69 per outing
  • Gutted out two Championship Weekend performances, playing on a bad hamstring
  • Tied his own program record for points in a game for the third time in his career with 10 (4G, 6A) in a win over Michigan in Ann Arbor
  • Turned in an eight-point performance off three goals and five assists in the win over No. 1 Duke at Arlotta Stadium in the regular season

AS A JUNIOR (2022)

  • Broke his own ND record for assists in a season with 39, surpassing his own record of 38 from the 2021 campaign
  • Finished the season ranked second in the country in assists per game, averaging 3.25
  • Started all 12 games as an attackman for the Irish during his junior season
  • Led the Irish with 64 points off 25 goals and 39 assists
  • Tallied at least three points in every game of the season
  • Played his best lacrosse at the end of the season, totaling 40 points over his final six games (14G, 26A)
  • Tied his own program record for points in a game with 10 (4G, 6A) in a win over Syracuse in the Carrier Dome
  • Turned in four performances of seven or more points
  • Began the season with an eight-point performance (4G, 4A) despite playing less than 30 minutes in a win over Detroit Mercy

AS A SOPHOMORE (2021)

  • A Tewaaraton Finalist – the first sophomore to be a finalist since the 2017 season and the fourth finalist in Notre Dame program history
  • Set the all-time program single-season record for assists in a season with 38 in just 12 games
  • Finished his sophomore campaign with a team-high 64 points off 38 assists and 26 goals
  • Led the ACC and ranked third in the country in assists per game (3.17)
  • Ranked fifth in the country in points per game (5.33)
  • Recorded three games of nine or more points and seven outings of five or more points
  • Broke the single-game record for points in a game with 10 (5G, 5A) in the 22-8 win over No. 9/8 Syracuse (5/1)
  • Opened the year with a nine-point effort (2G, 7A) in the 19-7 win over Robert Morris (2/27)
  • The seven assists against Robert Morris tied the program record for assists in a game
  • Scored four goals and added five assists for a nine-point outing in a huge 18-11 road win over No. 4 Syracuse (4/3)
  • Posted seven points (4G, 3A) against No. 3 Duke (4/22) on the road, tied for the most points the Blue Devils allowed an individual to record all season
  • Ranked third on the team in caused turnovers with nine and ground balls with 35 (only trailing FOGOs)
  • Appeared four times on the SportsCenter Top 10 countdown for highlight reel goals
  • Started all 12 games as an attackman

AS A FRESHMAN (2020 – Season Cancelled After Five Games Due to COVID-19)

  • Started all five games for the Irish in his rookie year as an attackman
  • Tied for the team lead in points with 16 in just five games
  • Tied for the team lead in goals on the season with 10 and second in assists with six
  • Made an instant impact, scoring three goals and adding a season-high four assists in his Notre Dame debut in the season-opening win over Cleveland State (2/15)
  • Scored a season-high four goals in the win over No. 17 Richmond (2/23)

PREP & PERSONAL

  • Under Armour All-America Long Island Team selection in 2017 & 2018
  • No. 26 rated player by Inside Lacrosse in the class of 2019
  • Selected to the USA U19 Team that will compete in Limerick, Ireland, in the summer of 2020
  • Named one of Newsday’s top 100 lacrosse players in 2018
  • Led Chaminade to the Long Island Catholic League title in 2017 & 2018
  • Also lettered in soccer and hockey at Chaminade
  • Totaled 69 points off 31 goals and 38 assists in postgraduate season at Taft
  • Played for the Long Island Express club team
  • Son of Kevin and Mary Kavanagh
  • Both parents were college athletes, as Kevin played hockey at Iona and Mary played volleyball at Molloy College
  • Has four brothers (Kevin, Matt, Brendan and Christopher) and a sister (Colleen)
  • Matt played lacrosse at Notre Dame and graduated in 2016. Kevin played hockey at Stony Brook and Brendan played lacrosse at Hofstra. Colleen played soccer at Manhattan and then graduated from Notre Dame in 2017
  • Brothers Matt (Redwoods LC) and Brendan (Denver Outlaws) play professional lacrosse.
