2022-23 Season (Graduate)

  • His five-year ND career final numbers = 1,701 points behind 620 made field goals on 44.3 percent shooting; 229 three-pointers on 39.1 percent from deep; 232 free-throws on 82.3 percent from the line; 691 rebounds; 230 assists.
  • Played all 32 games, with 30 starts, and averaged 35.5 minutes.
  • Played in his 142nd game against North Carolina on Jan. 7 – breaking the all-time program record previously held by Rex Pfleuger. Finished at 158 as he played in every game since arriving to campus.
  • Man possessed at Duke on Feb. 14. Goodwin scored 17 straight points for the Irish in the second half from 12:35-4:29. He finished with a season-high 25 points. He shot 11-of-13 from the field.
  • 10 straight games in double figures from Dec. 27-Jan. 28. He amassed 131 points in that span, averaging 13.1 ppg. It marked the second time of his collegiate career reaching a double-digit scoring streak mark – his career best was 20 from the 2021-22 season.
  • Loved the month of February — Starting in 2021 (over his last three seasons), Goodwin averaged 12.1 ppg in the month of February. He scored 112 points over eight games in 2021. Then 81 points in seven games in 2022. And 74 points in 2023.
  • Last nine road games of the year – averaged 12.9 ppg (116 points).
  • Notched his 2nd double-double of the year with 10 points, 10 rebounds, vs Louisville on Jan. 28. Ultimately finished with six in his career.
  • Tied his career high of 4 steals to go with his 13 points vs BC on Jan. 21. Goodwin excelled in the second half of his collegiate career against BC, amassing 96 points in his last six games against the Eagles (16.0 ppg). The first game vs BC earlier in the season, Goodwin scored a team-best 16 points.
  • Season-high six assists to go with his 15 points at Syracuse on Jan. 14.
  • Team high 19 points and a career-best 12 rebounds in ACC win over Georgia Tech on Jan. 10. Goodwin connected on a big three in the overtime period.
  • Carried the Irish to a 66-65 victory over Lipscomb, hitting the go-ahead three and game-winner with 14 seconds left. Goodwin tied his career high in made three-pointers, converting 6-of-8 from deep. He finished with 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting.
  • Led the Irish in scoring with a 20-point performance in the 88-81 win over Youngstown St on Nov. 13.

2021-22

  • Battled to the end in the NCAA second round loss to No. 12/11 Texas Tech (3/20/22) with a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds. 
  • Set the tone in the victory over Georgia Tech (2/26/22) with 17 first half points, including back-to-back three pointers to put the Irish ahead by double digits in the first half. 
  • Played a career-high 42 minutes and posted his second straight 20-point game in the overtime victory against Boston College (2/16/22), scoring a season-high 23 points with four rebounds. 
  • Poured in 16 points in the second half of the victory at Clemson (2/12/22), finishing the contest with 20 points, six rebounds and two assists. 
  • Finished with 16 points, five rebounds and two assists in the victory over Louisville (2/9/22). 
  • Stepped up to record a double-double against NC State (2/5/22) with Nate Laszewski sideline in the first five minutes of the game with an injury. Finished the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds. 
  • Scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half of the victory over Virginia (1/29/22), finishing off the game with two clutch three point field goals and two free throws to keep the Irish in the lead. 
  • Ended up with 17 points with four three point field goals while adding eight rebounds in the victory over NC State (1/26/22). 
  • Posted another double-digit scoring second half at Howard (1/17/22) with 11 points on four-of-four shooting with a steal while playing all 20 minutes of the victory. Finished the game with 17 points. 
  • Recovered from a scoreless first half to pour in 14 points in the second 25 minutes (including OT) in the victory at Georgia Tech (1/8/22) – which included several clutch baskets late in the game. His two free throws with 8 seconds remaining sealed the victory for the Irish. 
  • Keyed Notre Dame’s first half surge against Clemson (1/12/22) with 15 points, eventually finishing the game with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting and 3-of-3 behind the arc. 
  • Scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half of the victory over North Carolina (2/5/22), all of which came either inside the arc or at the free throw line. 
  • Hit 20 points for the first time in 2021-22, leading the Irish with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-7 behind the arc, in the victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi (11/22/21). Added six rebounds and a season-high three steals vs. the Islanders. 
  • Became the 66th player in school history – and 25th recruited by Mike Brey – to reach 1,000 points in a career against Western Michigan (12/20/21). Led the Irish with 18 points in the contest, shooting 4-of-6 from three-point range. 
  • Led the Irish with 15 points while adding six rebounds vs. Indiana (12/18/21). 
  • Tied for the team lead with 14 points in the upset over No. 10/12 Kentucky, including a break away dunk for the game’s final points with .1 left in the 66-62 victory. 
  • Led the Irish with 18 points and along with a game-high eight rebounds vs. Texas A&M (11/24/21). 
  • Posted his third career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the victory over High Point (11/16/21). 
  • Connected on a career-high six 3FGs (6-8) in Notre Dame’s season-opening victory over CSUN (11/13/21). 

2020-21

  • Played a key role in the victory over No. 11/11 Florida State (3/6/21), matching the team-high with nine rebounds along with 15 points.
  • Earned his first double-double of the season and second of his career in the victory over Miami (2/14/21), finishing with 11 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.
  • Scored 12 points in the victory at Duke (2/9/21), including a transition three pointer to give the Irish their first lead of the game with 14 minutes remaining. Also converted two free throws with 21 seconds remaining to keep the Irish lead at five points in the eventual four-point victory.
  • Just missed his second career double-double with an outstanding all around game at Pittsburgh (1/30/21), scoring 16 points with nine rebounds and two steals. His aggressive play on offense drew five fouls from the Panthers defense.
  • Rebounded after a tough shooting game at Virginia (1/13/21) to record third 20-point game of the season against Boston College (1/16/21), leading the Irish with 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting with five three-point field goals.
  • Came off the bench at No. 19/20 Virginia Tech (1/20/21) and scored 12 points on three-of-four shooting with four free throws.
  • Posted perhaps his most efficient game against Bellarmine (12/23/20), shooting 8-of-10 from the field, a career-best 11-for-11 from the free throw line, drawing six fouls and finishing with a career-high matching 27 points.
  • Stepped up to lead the Irish in scoring against No. 21/23 Duke (12/16/20) with a season-high 25 points, shooting 10-for-12 from the field with four 3FGM.
  • Recorded his first career double-double in the home opener against Detroit Mercy (12/6/20) with 15 points and 10 rebounds in a career-high 39 minutes played.
  • In the starting lineup for the season opener at No. 13/12 Michigan State (11/28/20), finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists while connecting on a career-best six free throws.

2019-20

  • Finished off the season with 15 points and seven rebounds in the ACC tournament victory over Boston College (3/11/20).
  • Turned in perhaps his best all-around game in an Irish uniform in the regular season finale against Virginia Tech (3/7/20), scoring 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting, a career-best nine rebounds and four assists.
  • Poured in 14 of his ACC season-high 16 points in the second half against Florida State (3/4/20), shooting 4-for-8 from the field  with two 3 FGs and two steals.
  • Scored 14 points off the bench against Georgia Tech (2/1/20) with five rebounds.
  • Posted his career-best fifth-consecutive game with double figure scoring against Wake Forest (1/29/20) with 14 points and four rebounds in the victory.
  • Scored 10 points in the first half at Georgia Tech (1/15/20), keeping the Irish on pace with the Yellow Jackets in the eventual 78-74 victory. Finished the contest with 15 points, hitting double digits in a true road game for the first time in 2019-20.
  • Returned to double figures against No. 13/11 Louisville (1/11/2020) with 14 points and five rebounds off the bench.
  • Scored 12 points in 23 minutes against Alabama A&M (12/29/19) to post the fourth consecutive double-digit scoring game of the year – the best streak in his career.
  • Sparked the Irish with 14 points in the first half against UCLA (12/14/19), including three three-point shots to provide a lead the teams would not relinquish in the victory.
  • Exploded with a career-high 27 points off the bench against Detroit Mercy (12/10/19), shooting 10-of-13 from the field, five-of-seven from three-point range while collecting seven rebounds and four assists. The points, field goals, three-point field goals and assists were all career highs, while his seven rebounds matched his career best. The 27 points off the bench marks the second-most of the Brey era (Bonzie Colson scored 31 off the bench against Duke in 2016) and the third-most since 1996-97 (Keith Friel had 30 points as a non-starter against Syracuse in 1998).
  • Posted back-to-back 15-plus scoring games for the first time in his career, coming off the bench with 15 points and a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range in the victory over Fairleigh Dickinson (11/26/19).
  • Played a key part in Notre Dame’s rally over Toledo (11/21/19) with 11 points in the second half, including three of his career-high four three-point field goals.
  • Scored nine of his 11 points in the second half, helping the Irish hold off Marshall (11/15/19) and recording his third double-digit scoring game in three games at Purcell Pavilion this season.
  • Led the Irish in scoring with 18 points off the bench in the home opening victory over Robert Morris (11/9/19), scoring several baskets by posting up the smaller RMU guards.

2018-19

  • Moved his double-digit scoring streak to three games in the first round of the ACC tournament against Georgia Tech (3/12/19), scoring 15 points with five rebounds and two assists.
  • Recorded double figures in back-to-back games for the first time in ACC play at Pittsburgh (3/9/19) by scoring 10 points and matching a career-high with six rebounds.
  • Played a career-high 38 minutes against Clemson (3/6/19), scoring 12 points with five rebounds and a steal.
  • Stepped up to post his first solid ACC performance with 19 points (17 of them coming in the 2nd half) against NC State (1/19/19), shooting 7-for-10 from the field, grabbing four rebounds and dishing out three assists.
  • Joined Nate Laszewski and Prentiss Hubb in the starting lineup against Boston College (1/12/19) – becoming the first trio of true freshmen to start for the Irish since the 1999-2000 season and first trio of true freshman to win in a starting role since LaPhonso Ellis, Elmer Bennett and Keith Tower against Portland on January 9, 1989.
  • Scored double figures in back-to-back games for the first time in his career against Coppin State (12/29/18) with 13 points and six rebounds off the bench in a team-high 34 minutes.
  • As the Irish continue to look for the right starting lineup combination, responded to coming off the bench against Jacksonville (12/20/18) with a career-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting with five rebounds and three assists.
  • Earned first career start against Binghamton (12/18/18), playing a career-high 36 minutes and grabbing a career-best six rebounds.
  • Made several key plays down the stretch in the victory over Purdue (12/15/18), scoring a career-high 11 points with four rebounds.
  • Logged crunch time minutes against Duquesne and was on the floor for Notre Dame’s deciding 13-0 run to seal the victory – contributing a blocked shot, lay up and an assist during the run.
  • Came off the bench to play 20 minutes and score 10 points in his Notre Dame debut against UIC (11/6/18).

PERSONAL

  • Son of Danielle and Damon Goodwin, along with brother Grant and sister Addie.
  • Father, Damon, is the all-time winningest head coach at Capital University (a Division III school located in the Columbus, Ohio, suburbs), played basketball at the University of Dayton from 1982-83 through 1985-86 and was a seventh-round draft pick of the Phoenix Suns in 1986. Dayton was 1-4 against Notre Dame during Damon Goodwin’s playing time at Dayton.
  • Brother, Grant, played college baseball at Division III Wittenburg and graduated in 2013.
  • Sisters, Addie, played club volleyball at the University of Dayton and graduated in 2014.
  • Enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business with a major in management consulting.
