Jack Coan - Football - Notre Dame Fighting Irish

A graduate transfer to Notre Dame, Coan enrolled at Notre Dame beginning in the spring semester of 2021. He spent four seasons at Wisconsin prior to joining the Irish.

SENIOR SEASON (2021)

  • FLORIDA STATE: In his Irish debut, set career highs with 366 yards and four touchdowns along with tying a career high with 26 completions in the win over Florida State. The 366 yards set a Notre Dame record for most passing yards in a season-opening game. The previous record was held by current offensive coordinator Tommy Rees when he threw for 346 yards against Temple in 2013. Coan also tied the Notre Dame record for most passing touchdowns in a season-opener with four. He tied with Jimmy Clausen (2009) and Ron Powlus (1994).
  • TOLEDO: In his second start under center for the Irish, Coan finished 21-of-33 in the air for 239 yards and two touchdowns against Toledo. Made the game-winning 18-yard touchdown pass to Michael Mayer after dislocating his finger the previous play to lead the Irish in the win over Toledo.
  • PURDUE: Coan finished 15-of-31 in the air for 223 yards and two touchdowns against Purdue. His two touchdown passes against the Boilermakers mark the first time in his career that he has had three straight games with two or more passing touchdowns.
  • VIRGINIA TECH: The quarterback led the Irish to a fourth quarter comeback win, scoring 11 points on the final two drives. Completed 7-of-9 passing attempts in the fourth quarter for 93 yards and a touchdown and also connected with Kevin Austin for a key two-point conversion to tie the game with 2:26 left in the fourth.
  • SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA: Coan finished 20-of-28 in the air for 189 yards and a touchdown against the Trojans.
  • NORTH CAROLINA: Coan threw for 213 yards and a touchdown, going 16-for-24 in the game. Coan also rushed for 29 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown run, which was the first rushing touchdown with the Irish and longest run since joining the program.
  • NAVY: Coan was an efficient 23-for-29 in the air for 269 yards and a touchdown, including a 70-yard strike to Kevin Austin, the longest passing play of the season.
  • VIRGINIA: Coan threw for three touchdowns and finished 15-of-20 in the passing game for 132 yards in the road win.
  • GEORGIA TECH: The quarterback went 15-for-20 for 285 yards and two touchdowns in his final game at Notre Dame Stadium.
  • STANFORD: Coan surpassed the 300-yard mark for the second time in the 2021 season, finishing with 345 yards passing on 26-of-35 attempts with two touchdowns. His 26 completions tied a career high.
