Bio

Dale Jones enters his first year in 2017 with the Notre Dame football program as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Jones joined the Notre Dame staff after a four-year stint at Texas A&M (2013-16). He worked with Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel and the rest of the Aggie quarterbacks. Jones not only guided quarterback-specific workouts during his tenure, but he also worked with NFL first-round offensive line draft picks in Germain Ifedi, Cedric Ogbuehi and Jake Matthews, as well as wide receiver Mike Evans, who was also selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Jones designed flexibility and mobility programs for specific individuals, while also co-writing the team’s strength and conditioning program.

Prior to Texas A&M, Jones spent 12 years as an assistant director of sports performance at the University of Houston. He worked with football, baseball, women’s basketball, softball, track (field events), soccer, swimming and diving and tennis over his tenure with the Cougars.

Jones focused in all areas of sports performance with his assigned teams, individualizing many aspects of the student-athletes training.

In addition to his strength and conditioning duties at Houston, Jones served as an adjunct lecturer for the Health and Human Performance Department, instructing graduate courses in strength and conditioning. He also worked as a senior advisor for strength and conditioning at The Edge Extreme in Flower Mound, Texas.

Jones joined the UH Athletics Department in 2001 after teaching undergraduate courses in the Health and Human Performance Department at the University for a year. In 2003, he received his master’s degree in exercise science from Houston.

Jones served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at North Texas during the 1997-98 season and was a volunteer strength and conditioning coach at SMU in 1997.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology with magna cum laude honors from Washburn in 1994. In addition, he was recognized as the 1994 Physical Education Major of the Year and the NASPE Physical Education Major of the Year.

Jones is certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. He also is a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and Sports Performance Coach by USA Weightlifting. He has completed his CrossFit Mobility training. Jones is also a certified person trainer through ISSA (International Sports Science Association).

Jones lives in Granger, Indiana, with his wife, Nicole, and their two daughters, Abigail and Madison.
