COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Second season as the special assistant to the Notre Dame head coach in 2016
  • Involved in numerous areas of the program including player personnel, analytics, defensive strategy, game planning and on-campus recruiting
  • Spent 32 of his 36 seasons coaching defense, primarily as a defensive backs coach or defensive coordinator. Served as defensive coordinator for a combined 11 years at San Diego State, Kansas State, Iowa and Ball State.

  • Oversaw a defense in his second season at Kansas State that ranked sixth nationally in total defense (283.1 yards per game), seventh in pass defense (174.6), eighth in scoring defense (16.3 points) and 17th in rushing defense (108.8 yards)
  • Served as the Iowa State associate head coach, secondary coach and special teams coordinator from 2000-01
  • Member of the Iowa athletics department for 13 years (1987-99), including 11 years as anassistant coach (1987-94, 1996-98)
