AS A SENIOR

  • Finished the season with a 31-20 record
  • Began the season at the Elite Invitational, posting a record of 4-3
  • Went 8-4 at the St. John’s Invitational
  • Finished the ACC Championships with a 6-2 record

AS A JUNIOR:

  • Earned his highest finish at the NCAA Championships, placing eighth for Second Team All-America honors
  • Went 14-9 during pool competition at the NCAA Championships with a +11 indicator
  • Finished third at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships
  • Completed the year with a 37-35 record in dual meets
  • Named to the ACC All-Academic Team for the third straight season
  • Earned first career Academic All-America citation with a third-team nod
  • Earned a monogram

AS A SOPHOMORE:

  • Earned his first All-America citation with a 10th-place finish at the NCAA Championships (Honorable Mention)  
  • Earned second place the at NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, posting a 6-4 record on the day
  • Also took silver in the ACC Men’s Sabre Championship, falling to teammate Jonah Shainberg 12-15 in the gold-medal bout  
  • Top-two finish at ACCs was good for second career All-ACC honor  
  • Posted a 48-22 record on the season  
  • Named to the ACC All-Academic Team and ACC Academic Honor Roll
  • Named the team’s Most Valuable Sabreur

AS A FRESHMAN:

  • Won ACC Men’s Sabre title, the ACC Men’s Team title, named ACC Men’s Sabreur of the Year and finished 20th at NCAA Championship  
  • One of five freshmen to compete for the Irish at the NCAA Championship  
  • Amassed a 39-23 record in his first year, beginning the season 6-5 at the Ohio State Elite Cup  
  • Logged 13-1 mark in Northwestern Duals
  • Went 5-1 in DeCicco Duals
  • Etched a 4-3 record in team competition at ACC Championship and went 14-1 en route to clinching the individual title  
  • Finished in fourth place at the NCAA Midwest Regional and earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Championship  
  • At NCAAs, finished the first day with a 6-9 record, and went on to finish 7-16
  • Named ACC Fencer of the Week on Feb. 4, and earned a monogram

PREP AND PERSONAL:

  • Got his start in the sport when mother pushed him to take lessons at age 13  
  • Excelled quickly and began competing at top-tier events
  • As a sophomore, placed fifth at Division II Richmond, Virginia North American Cup (NAC), and was third at same competition in Division III level  
  • Finished sixth at Kansas City, Missouri NAC in Division II competition  
  • Competed at Junior Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, in cadet level, placing 14th  
  • As a junior, placed ninth on European Circuit at Cadet World Cup in Konin, Poland  
  • Finished 12th at St. Louis, Missouri NAC at cadet level
  • Won title at same event in the Division II competition  
  • Came in 11th at Louisville, Kentucky NAC  
  • As a senior, placed seventh at Pan-American Games in Guatemala City, Guatemala, competing at the junior level
  • Finished 10th at Dallas, Texas NAC in Division I competition
  • Placed third at Virginia Beach, Virginia NAC in juniors competition  
  • Favorite athletic memories to date are winning bronze at the Virginia Beach NAC and placing ninth at Cadet World Cup in Konin, Poland  
  • Clinched seventh at Junior Olympics in Portland, Oregon in junior division  
  • Served as a board member of Model United Nations and volunteered as an event coordinator with Amnesty International in high school  
  • Graduated from East Brunswick High School in June of 2014  
  • Youngest son of Brian Fitzgerald and Linda Rondinelli  
  • Has four older sisters and one brother
  • Born in New York, New York, but currently calls East Brunswick, New Jersey home
  • Enrolled in the College of Arts and Letters, double-majoring in Arabic and Peace Studies
