Christian Aguilar 2016-17 Fencing Roster

CHRISTIAN AGUILAR

AS A SENIOR:

• Participated in the DeCicco Duals where he went 18-1 on the weekend. 

AS A JUNIOR:

• Competed solely at the DeCicco Duals, assembling a 7-3 record on the weekend.

AS A SOPHOMORE:  

• Went 31-2 in the regular season for the Irish, with a 23-1 record coming over two days at Notre Dame’s DeCicco Duals  
• Went 8-1 at the Northwestern Duals
• Also placed 22nd in men’s epee at the Penn State Open.

AS A FRESHMAN:

• Fought in only the DeCicco Duals in his inaugural season with the Irish, amassing a 6-2 record  
• Earned a 5-2 victory over Wayne State’s Matthew Hilton to start the day  
• Continued on to beat Henry Ward (Lawrence) 5-4
• Out-dueled Detroit’s Ben Bourdeau and Bradley’s Jack Ebersole 5-1  
• Lost two bouts to Michigan State’s Kass Patton (5-3) and Matthew Wexler (5-4), beating Michael Palmer 5-4  
• Finished the tournament with a 5-3 win over Michigan’s Vincent Yue.

PREP AND PERSONAL:

• After initially hating the sport in fifth grade, picked it back up sophomore year of high school and has excelled ever since  
• Competed with prep team and Fencing Academy of South Jersey’s club team in addition to playing lacrosse and swimming  
• Placed fourth in state fencing tournament as a junior and finished sixth as a senior
• Graduated from Moorestown Friends School in May of 2014  
• Hails from Medford, New Jersey, the same area as Irish men’s basketball star Steve Vasturia and men’s swimmer Joe Petrone
• Middle child of Omar and Claudia Aguilar
• Both parents attended Notre Dame, and father Omar also fenced with the Irish
• Has two sisters, Camille and Sophia  
• Enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business
