AS A SENIOR (2022-23)

  • Brought a national title back to South Bend after a 9:25.03 performance in the 3000M Steeplechase (also a facility record at the University of Texas)
  • Won the 3000S at NCAA Regionals (9:40.65)
  • Won an ACC title in the 3000S with a time of 9:40.65
  • Won the 5000M at the Raleigh Relays (15:33.62)
  • Was the national runner-up in the 3000M Indoor NCAAs (9:13.01), helped the DMR team to a third-place finish (10:59.46)
  • Earned a bronze medal in the 3000M at Indoor ACCs (9:01.82), helped the DMR team to a second-place finish (10:51.52)
  • Finished eighth in the country at Cross Country NCAAs in the 6k (19:46.4)
  • Won the NCAA Great Lakes Region Cross Country title in the 6k (19:54.0)
  • Took bronze in the 6k at Cross Country ACCs with a personal best time of 19:29.7

AS A JUNIOR (2021-22)

  • Placed 11th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships (19:38.0) and earned All-American honors.
  • Took second place in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional with a time of 19:57.7.
  • Tallied a PR in the Joe Piane Invitational 5K (17:18.1).

AS A SOPHOMORE (2020-21)

  • Notched a PR in the ACC Cross Country Championships with a time of 20:42.0.
  • Tallied a PR in the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships 3000 meters with a time of 9:11.17.
  • Secured a PR in the mile (4:39.81) at the Lenny Lyles Cardinals Invitational.
  • Established a PR in the 3000 steeplechase (9:42.41) at the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships.
  • Logged a PR in the 1500 meter run (5:15.76) at the Drake Relays.

AS A FRESHMAN (2019-20)

  • Competed in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational and crossed the finish line in 17:39.6.
  • Notched a PR in the ACC Cross Country Championships at 22:11.4.
  • Competed in both the NCAA Division I Great Lakes Region Cross Country Championships and the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships. Crossed the finish line in 22:00.2 and 21:35.2 respectively.
  • In the 2020 indoor track season, competed five times, three in the 3000 meter race and twice in the mile race. 

PREP AND PERSONAL

  • Graduated from the Bear Creek School in June 2019
  • Qualified for the 2018 Footlocker National Championships (placed eighth in the West regional)
  • Qualified for state cross country championships each year of high school, finishing as high as third as a senior
  • Was a two-time state champion — in the 1,600 meters as a junior and the 800 meters as a senior
  • As a senior, placed second in the 1,600 and third in the 3,200 at the state championships
  • Placed third in the 2K steeplechase at 2019 New Balance Nationals Outdoor with a time of 6:44.18
  • NSAF All-American in the 2K steeplechase
  • Daughter of Ron and Debbie Markezich
  • Dad Ron ran cross country and track at Notre Dame, graduating in 1989
  • Has a twin sister, Andrea, who is competing in cross country and track at Washington; an older brother, Jordan, and an older sister, Cambria
