JUNIOR SEASON (2022)

  • Played and started 56 games at third base and made 11 appearances and 1 start on the mound on the season.
  • Ended the year with 47 runs, 62 hits, 15 2B, 12 HR, 46 RBI, 10 SB and slashed .291/.360/.540.
  • On the mound he tossed 14.2 innings, tallied a 2-2 record with 2 saves and struck out 28 batters.
  • He led the team in doubles and was second on the squad in hits and home runs.
  • Was one of three Irish players to hit double-digit home runs this season as they set the program record for home runs in a single season with 79.
  • Hit the go-ahead home run in the 7-3 comeback win over #1 Tennessee to clinch the program’s third trip to the College World Series. (6/12/22)
  • Hit one of four home runs in the 8-6 win over #1 Tennessee in the Super Regional. It was the most home runs Tennessee had allowed in a game all season. (6/10/22)
  • Hit the go-ahead home run in the 6-4 win over #22 Georgia Southern in the Statesboro Regional. (6/4/22)
  • Picked up his first win of the season after tossing the final 1.2 innings and struck out 4 batters in the 8-4 comeback win in extras over #17 NC State. (3/11/22)
  • Earned his first save of the season after pitching the final 1.2 innings in the 9-7 win over #5 Florida State to sweep the series. (4/3/22)
  • Tied a career high with 3 runs against Northwestern. (5/17/22)
  • Set a career high with 6 strikeouts and tied a career high with 3.0 innings pitched against Boston College. (5/1/22)

  • Played and started in all 47 games and made six appearances out of the bullpen on the season.
  • Finished the year with 31 runs, 51 hits, 12 doubles, 2 triples, 6 home runs, 29 RBI, 8 steals and slashed .295/.385/.491.
  • On the mound, Brannigan finished with a 1-0 record with 3 saves in 4.0 innings pitched with 7 strikeouts.
  • He tied for the team lead with 3 saves and 12 doubles, while he was tied for second on the squad with 51 hits and third in home runs with 6.
  • Was one of six Irish named to the South Bend Regional All-Tournament Team.
  • Tied a career high with three strikeouts against Virginia Tech (5/21).
  • Set a career high with four hits against Virginia (3/14).
  • Earned his first career save in the series-clinching win over Clemson (3/7).
  • Set a career high with three strikeouts against No. 16 Wake Forest (2/27-1).
  • Currently playing summer ball with the Wareham Gatemen in the Cape Cod League.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2020)*

  • Played and started all 13 games during the abbreviated season.
  • Finished the year at the plate with a .255 average, team-high 14 runs, 12 hits, 11 RBI, three steals and one home run.
  • On the mound Brannigan pitched 4.2 innings over four appearances and finished with a 1-0 record and 1.93 ERA.
  • Had a breakout weekend in the ACC opening series against North Carolina.
  • On March 6, he set a career high with three runs scored in the 8-5 win.
  • On March 7, Brannigan took to the mound and tossed a career high 2.2 innings to clinch his first collegiate win.
  • In the series finale, Brannigan set career highs with three hits and five RBI while also stealing home in the 14-8 win to sweep the series.
  • One of three Irish to record five RBI in a game during the season (Niko Kavadas & Jack Alexander).

PREP AND PERSONAL:

  • Earned first team PBR All-State and first team Daily Southtown All-Area. 
  • .430, 36 runs, 14 doubles, 2 triples, 3 HRs, 4-2 record, 1.55 ERA, 53 Ks during his senior year.
  • 3x Regional Championship (2019-18, 2016) and 1x Sectional Championship (2019).
  • ESCC All-Conference team in 2018.
  • Played high school baseball against fellow Irish teammates Aidan Tyrell and Casey Kmet.
  • Was a National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society Member.
  • Son to John and Colleen Brannigan. Has three brothers; Shane, Mark and Luke.
  • Father (‘90), Grandfather (‘61) and Uncle (‘86) all attended Notre Dame.
  • Dad participated in Track & Field at Notre Dame and grandfather played baseball during his freshman year.
  • Thomas played baseball at the same time as Carl Yastrzemski.
  • Majoring in finance.
