AT NOTRE DAME: Co-captain with fellow senior Will Hudgins … two-year monogram winner enters his senior season with a .143 career batting average … has added six runs, one RBI, three walks, one sacrifice hit and one stolen base in 17 games (four starts) … quintessential ‘program’ type kid … phenomenal student-athlete … widely respected by the coaching staff and teammates … viewed as a leader by his teammates despite his limited playing time … as committed to the program as any member of the team … missed the entire 2010 season following offseason knee surgery … scrappy, aggressive middle infielder along the lines of former Irish shortstop Brett Lilley ([apos]07) … has the versatility to play anywhere in the infield … carried a 3.581 cumulative GPA into the `12 spring semester.

JUNIOR SEASON (2011): Appeared in 11 games and started one for the Irish … went hitless in seven at-bats with four runs, two walks and one stolen base … scored two runs, including the gamewinning tally; also drew a walk in a pinch-hit opportunity and came around to score in the walk-off victory on Mar. 15 vs. UTSA … drew a walk and came around to score on Mar. 18 vs. Iowa … scored following Trey Mancini[apos]s three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning of a 5-4 victory over Seton Hall on May 1 … started at second base vs. Michigan on May 3.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2010): Missed the season following offseason knee surgery, which also forced him to miss fall practice and the Blue-Gold World Series.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2009): Appeared in six games and started three for the Irish (all at second base) … batted .286 (2-for-7) with two runs, one RBI, one walk and one sacrifice hit … went 0-for-2 with a walk in first career start (Mar. 11 vs. Grambling) and went 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI in his only other start of season (Mar. 24 vs. Central Michigan) … scored a run against Oakland on Mar. 25 … committed two errors in 18 fielding chances.

PREP & PERSONAL: Helped lead Boston College High School to the state semifinals in 2006 and 2007 … played for coach Norm Walsh at BCHS … also has played AAU ball with the South Shore Seadogs (coach by Ryan Morgan) and American Legion with Post 118 (coached by Bill Signorelli) … attended Notre Dame Baseball Camp in the summer of 2007 … received 2007 scholar-athlete award … a Fulton Scholarship recipient at BCHS … also a high-honor roll student all four years and member of the National Honor Society … his father Mark was a 1978 Notre Dame graduate while his sister Jacqueline graduated in 2009 … Jacqueline was a co-commodore of the Irish Sailing team and a DJ at WVFI … his mother (Laura) played basketball at the University of Alabama … born Oct. 28, 1989 … son of Mark and Laura Chase … full name is Thomas Joseph Chase … enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business as an accounting major.
