Irish Fall to William & Mary

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to seventh-ranked William and Mary Saturday afternoon. The Irish, ranked No. 17, drop to 10-10 on the season while the Tribe is 14-5. William & Mary is coached by former Notre Dame men’s tennis player Brian Kalbas, who graduated in 1989.

Sophomore Marisa Velasco was the only winner on the day for the Irish as she defeated Michelle O at No. 2 singles by a 6-2, 6-1 score. Notre Dame has now lost three-straight matches and six of its last seven. The Irish return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Indiana.
