Women’s Tennis Drop Match to Texas

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Texas women’s tennis team, which is tied as fifth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches en route to a 6-3 win over No. 14 Notre Dame on Monday afternoon.

Texas improves to 6-2 on the season with the win while the Irish fall to 9-6.

Freshman Kelly Zalinski won at No. 4 singles to lead the Irish while junior Darcie Sweet won at No. 6 singles. The Notre Dame doubles team of Jennifer Hall and Tiffany Gates, ranked No. 21 in the country, defeated the Texas duo of Cristina Moros and Farley Taylor by an 8-5 score.

Sophomores Sandy Sureephong and Laura Berendt and freshman Michelle Faucher were all winners in both double and singles for Texas.
