No. 8 Pepperdine Too Much for No. 11 Notre Dame

MADISON, Wis. — The University of Notre Damewomen’s tennis team, ranked No. 11 in the country, lost a5-2 decision to No. 8 Pepperdine on Thursday in the firstround of the USTA/ITA Women’s National Indoor Championship.Notre Dame will now compete in the consolation phase of thetournament.

The loss dropped Notre Dame’s record to 4-2 on theseason while Pepperdine is undefeated at 5-0.

The Notre Dame No. 1 doubles team of Jennifer Hall andTiffany Gates posted an 8-5 win over Angela Lawrence andIsabella Petrov of Pepperdine, the No. 5-ranked team in thecountry. Singles winners for Notre Dame were Hall at No. 1and Gates at No. 3.
