Notre Dame Upset by Minnesota

CHAMPAIGN, Ind. — The top-seeded Notre Dame men’s tennis team was upset by the fifth-seeded Minnesota, 4-2, at the NCAA Region IV Championships, Saturday afternoon.

The Irish dug themselves into a hole early by dropping the doubles point, as the No. 3 squad of Ryan Simme and Danny Rothschild were the only Notre Dame winners in the three doubles contests.

The singles matches proved to be even more tightly. No. 1 singles player Ryan Sachire and No. 3 Simme recorded the Irish singles points. But it was the Golden Gophers’ day however, as Minnesota clinched the match with two three set victories.
