Notre Dame Edges Northwestern

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s tennisteam posted a 4-3 win over Northwestern on Wednesday afternoon toimprove its record to 16-4 on the season and win its third-straightmatch and seventh in its last eight tries. Notre Dame is ranked No.11 in the country while the Wildcats, ranked No. 22 in the country,are 11-5. Notre Dame also remains unbeaten in regional play with an11-0 record.

The Irish opened the match by winning two of the three doublesmatches to get the doubles point and the two teams split the sixsingles matches as the Irish escaped with the victory. Notre Damepicked up singles wins from freshman Ryan Sachire at No. 1, who isranked No. 42 in the country, sophomore Brian Patterson at No. 4 andjunior Danny Rothschild at No. 5. Sachire and Rothschild keyed theNotre Dame victory as they posted wins in both doubles and singles.
