Notre Dame Men’s Tennis Defeats Indiana 5-2

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Notre Dame’s men’s tennis team upped its record to 8-2 on the season with a 5-2 win over Indiana at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. At 8-2, Notre Dame is off to best start since 1986 when the Irish finished 25-9 and the best start ever under 10th-year head coach Bobby Bayliss.

Notre Dame won the doubles point in dramatic fashion as the Irish team of Dan Rothschild and Ryan Simme needed a tiebreaker to win the doubles point after Notre Dame and Indiana spilt at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles. Notre Dame used wins in four singles matches as Ryan Sachire, Jakub Pietrowski, Eric Enloe and Rothschild each won to clinch the win. The Irish return to the court Sunday, Feb. 23 when they face North Carolina at the Eck Tennis Pavilion at 12:00 p.m.
