Irish Men’s Tennis Team Defeats Duke 4-3

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Irish junior Eric Enloe rallied from one-set down to defeat Porter Jones in the final match of the day as No. 29 Notre Dame man’s tennis team defeated No. 8 Duke 4-3 at the Eck Tennis Pavilion on Sunday afternoon.

Enloe, a Kansas City, Mo. native, won 6-7, 7-6, 6-1 as the Irish were victorious in four of the six singles matches. Other singles winners for Notre Dame were Ryan Sachire, Ryan Simme and Danny Rothschild.

Duke won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. Blue Devils freshmen Doug Root won his No. 2 singles match and teamed with sophomore Jordan Wile to win at No. 2 doubles.

The Irish improve to 7-2 overall while the Blue Devils fall to 1-1.

Notre Dame is back in action this Tuesday when the Irish host Indiana. The match is set for a 4 p.m. start at the Eck Pavilion.
