Notre Dame’s Ryan Sachire Eliminated at Rolex

DALLAS, Texas — Notre Dame freshman men’s tennis player RyanSachire was eliminated on Saturday in the consolation semifinals at theRolex National Indoor Collegiate Tennis Championships, featuring the top 32collegiate tennis players. Sachire lost 6-4, 6-4 to Doug Root of Duke.

In his first consolation match on Friday, Sachire won a straightset 7-6, 6-3 match against Vikram Venkataraghavan of Southern Methodist.The Canfield, Ohio native, followed up this win with a tough 6-4, 6-7, 6-3win over All-American Enrique Abaroa of Kansas to advance to thesemifinals. Sachire was looking to follow in the footsteps of former NotreDame All-American David DiLucia who won the consolation draw as the No. 1seed in 1992.

Notre Dame’s Ryan Sachire Advances at Rolex

DALLAS, Texas – Notre Dame freshman men’s tennis player Ryan Sachire won both of his matches Friday in Dallas, Texas, at the Rolex National Indoor Collegiate Tennis Championships, featuring the top 32 collegiate tennis players. Sachire won both of his consolation matches after losing in the first round on Thursday in three sets.

In his first consolation match, Sachire won a straight set 7-6, 6-3 match against Vikram Venkataraghavan of Southern Methodist. The Canfield, Ohio native, followed up this win with a tough 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 win over All-American Enrique Abaroa of Kansas.

Sachire will play his consolation semifinal match on Saturday at 3:30 against Doug Root of Duke. He is looking to follow in the footsteps of former Notre Dame All-American David DiLucia who won the consolation draw as the No. 1 seed in 1992.
