Orangemen Eliminate Irish From Big East Tourney
NEW YORK – Jason Hart scored a career-high 24 points aseighth seed Syracuse opened the Big East Conference Tournamentwith an 84-66 victory over ninth-seeded Notre Dame in New York.
Syracuse (19-11), which has to perform well in the tournament togain a chance at getting back to the NCAA Tournament, scored thefirst 10 points of the game and cruised, avenging a pair ofregular-season losses against the Irish (14-13).
Syracuse meets top-seed Villanova in the quarterfinals onThursday. Notre Dame was led by Admore White’s 12 points, whilePat Garrity was held to just 10 points – just one more than hisseason-low.
