Seton Hall Rallies to Defeat Notre Dame

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Shaheen Holloway finished with 21 points andfive assists as Seton Hall rallied back from a nine-point halftimedeficit to knock off Notre Dame 85-74.

Rimantas Kaukenas added 16 points, while Duane Jordan chipped in with 12for the Pirates, who improved to 9-15 overall and 4-11 in the Big East 7.

Notre Dame’s Pat Garrity led all scorers with 27 points. The juniorforward also finished with a game-high nine rebounds.

Matt Gotsch and Antoni Wyche contributed 11 points apiece for the Irish,who fell to 12-11 overall and 6-9 in the Big East 6.

Notre Dame played a solid first half, taking a 39-30 lead into halftime.

But the Pirates recovered in the second half, outscoring Notre Dame 55-35in the final 20 minutes.

Seton Hall went to the foul line 11 more times than the Irish. ThePirates shot 82 percent from the line (28-for-34), while the Irish shotjust 61 percent (14-for-23).

Notre Dame also committed 18 turnovers to just 10 for Seton Hall.

The Irish fell despite shooting 52 percent from the floor in thecontest.
