Carter Work Project
We are excited to announce that beginning in the spring of 2018, the Notre Dame Athletics Department will take part in the Habitat for Humanity Carter Work Project. In 1984, former President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter volunteered with Habitat in Americus, Georgia. On that trip, they formed a unique partnership with Habitat. To date, the Carter’s have served with 92,260 volunteers in 14 countries to build, renovate, and repair 3,944 homes.
Each year, the Carter’s in conjunction with Habitat, select one area in the world to build a number of houses with hundreds of volunteers. The community they identified as the site for this project is St. Joseph County, Indiana. With that, beginning in the spring of 2018, we will provide an opportunity for our student-athletes, coaches and staff members to volunteer in the construction of multiple homes for the Carter Work Project pre-build.
