Notre Dame Runners Take Sixth in Central CollegiateChampionships

Notre Dame, Indiana–Notre Dame sent its “B” men’s and women’ssquads to the Central Collegiate championships at Kalamazoo, Mich. andboth the men’s and women’s squads came away with sixth-place finishes. Ohio University claimed both titles.

Notre Dame’s men’s squad was led by top-finisher Tim Engelhart whoplaced 20th. Scott Grace was right behind Engelhart in 26th place. Ohio’s Josh Ritchie was first.

On the women’s side, South Bend’s Patti Rice was the top Irishfinisher at 14th while Marisa Posch was 27th. Ohio’s Jackie Conradclaimed the title.

Notre Dame’s men’s and women’s “A” squads run Saturday at theprestigious Arizona Invitational, site of the 1996 NCAA cross countrychampionships. The Irish will face their toughest test of the season,running against some of the top teams in the country.
