Aug. 27, 2007

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame head softball coach Deanna Gumpf recently released the team’s schedule for the 2007 fall season, with Irish set to host the Worth Fall Classic at Ivy Field Sept. 28-30.

Michigan, Western Michigan, Nebraska, and Illinois-Chicago round out the visiting field in the three-day event.

The Irish will open the tournament against Michigan at 7 p.m. (ET) on Sept. 28, followed by a pair of games the next day with Western Michigan (12 p.m.) and Nebraska (2 p.m.). The hosts will close the event on Sunday in a game with Illinois-Chicago at 3 p.m.

The fall season will likely mark the end of Notre Dame’s playing days at Ivy Field, as construction efforts towards Melissa Cook Stadium are well underway and should be complete for the 2008 softball campaign. The facility is being built on the southeast edge of the Notre Dame campus at the corner of Edison and Twyckenham roads.
