SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Rain in the San Diego area has caused an indefinite delay to the start of the Campbell-Cartier Softball Tournament, which was scheduled to begin Friday morning on the San Diego State University campus. Notre Dame was slated to open the tournament against Utah Friday at 9 a.m. (PT), although the start of that game has been put on hold. Also up in the air is the status of the second Irish game on Friday, a 4 p.m. (PT) matchup with #21/18 Fresno State.

Notre Dame (3-2) is seeking to build on last weekend’s GRU Classic championship in Gainesville, Fla., a title that was earned the hard way with three consecutive victories during the final two days of action (the final two against ranked opponents).

Check back to www.und.com and the Notre Dame Sports Hotline (574-631-3000) throughout the course of the day for updates and a possible revised schedule for the Campbell-Cartier Tournament.
