CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.– Tennessee-Chattanooga used four runs in the bottom of the third inning to defeat Notre Dame, 4-3, Friday night in opening action of the Choo Choo Classic. The Irish, who beat Tennessee-Martin, 8-0, earlier in the day, fell to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the tournament.

Scoring for the Irish were lead-off batter Dani Klayman, who scored on an error in the first inning, Jennifer Sharron, who came in on a single by Amy Laboe in the seventh, and Amy Laboe who scored on a ground out by Lizzy Lemire in the seventh. The Irish ended the seventh inning with the bases loaded.

Notre Dame will play Liberty at 11 a.m. and Maryland at 3 p.m. in the second day of the Choo Choo Classic on Saturday, Feb. 27. The tournament concludes with the championship and consolation rounds on Sunday, Feb. 28.
