The University of Notre Dame softball team (48-18) earned its sixth straight bid to the NCAA Championship on Sunday night, earning a seed in the NCAA Region VI Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Irish will face DePaul at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 20. It will be the third meeting this season between the two teams, as the Irish and Blue Demons split at doubleheader at Ivy Field on Tuesday, April 27. It will also mark the third time Notre Dame and DePaul have faced off in NCAA Championship action in the last four seasons. Notre Dame defeated DePaul 8-1 at the Iowa regional in 2001 and lost to the Blue Demons 4-3 in Ann Arbor last season.

More information will be available in a complete release on Monday, May 17. Oregon State, Bowling Green, Illinois-Chicago, Tennessee, Canisius and Michigan make up the rest of the eight-team regional, and the winner of the double elimination tournament will advance to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla.
