Six Headed To USA Junior Outdoor Championships

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Just a week removed from the end of the 2011-12 track and field season, six Notre Dame student-athletes are heading to Bloomington, Ind., and the 2012 USA Junior Outdoor Championships.

The three-day meet gets underway on Friday and runs through Sunday. Heading to Bloomington for the Irish are Jade Barber (100m Hurdles), Kaila Barber (400m Hurdles), Jake Kildoo (10,000m), Keith Mesidor (Long Jump), Emily Morris (Shot Put) and Dominick Padovano (Discus).

The Barber twins are competing in the same meets they competed in at last weekend’s NCAA Outdoor Championships. Jade will compete in the first round of the 100m hurdles at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. Kaila opens the first round of the 400m hurdles at 5:20 p.m. on Friday.

Kildoo competes in the 10,000m run at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night, while Mesidor is slated to open the long jump competition at 5 p.m. on Friday.

The throwers compete on Sunday, with Padovano slated to begin at 2:30 p.m., while Morris throws at 3 p.m.

To be eligible for the USA Junior Outdoor Championships, competitors must not turn 20 during 2012, and must meet qualifying standards.
