Sharp And Thorpe Highlight ND's Day One At Power Five Invite

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame track & field program traveled to Michigan to compete in the Power Five Invitational. Friday was the opening day of the two-day meet.

The Irish only had a few competitors on the track on Friday afternoon, as four athletes tried to qualify for Saturday’s finals in the 60m hurdles and 60m dash on the women’s side.

Jernaya Sharp and Summer Thorpe each qualified for the final in the 60m hurldles, both recording a time of 8.49 to come in fourth and fifth in the prelims. However, both Sharp and Thorpe recorded the second and third fastest times, respectively, on the day, as the top two qualifiers are professionals competing for team Adidas.

Madysen Hunter also competed in the 60m hurdles, recording her best time of the young season in the event with a mark of 8.81, leaving her just .03 seconds away from qualifying for the final.

The Irish are back in action for day two of the Power Five Invitational at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 1, to close out the meet.
