Shane Doss Earns National And ACC Weekly Honors

March 23, 2015

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – For his performance in Saturday’s shutout win over Ohio State, University of Notre Dame sophomore goalie Shane Doss has been named the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week and the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.

Doss (Glen Ridge, New Jersey) started and played all but 4:25 between the pipes in Notre Dame’s 9-0 blanking of the 15th-ranked Buckeyes. The sophomore stopped 11 shots and helped the Fighting Irish defense negate four man-up opportunities during his time in the game. The 9-0 victory marked the second shutout in program history, and first since 1984.

The victory improved Doss’ record to 4-1 on the campaign. He has made 10 or more saves in four of his five starts this season.

This is the third ACC weekly honor for Notre Dame in the past two weeks. Mikey Wynne (Fr./A) and Matt Landis (Jr./D) swept the offensive and defensive awards, respectively, last week.

No. 2 Notre Dame (5-1) will play host to No. 1 Syracuse (7-0) Saturday at Arlotta Stadium. Faceoff is slated for noon (ET) and the game can be seen on ESPNU and WatchESPN.
