Second Round Action At The Jeannine McHaney Invitational Washed Out

Lubbock, Texas – The second round of the Jeannine McHaney Invitational at The Rawls Course was cancelled on Saturday due to rain. With inclement weather forecasted for the rest of the day, the 54-hole tourney will be cut to 36 holes with the remaining 18 to be played on Sunday.

The final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CST).

Notre Dame will go into the final round on Sunday in third-place in the 18-team field after shooting an opening round 296 on Friday. The Irish trail tournament leader Southern Methodist (291) by five strokes and second-place Missouri (295) by one. Notre Dame leads fourth-place Oklahoma (298) by two strokes and has a five-stroke edge over Arkansas (301).

Individually, junior Katie Brophy (Spokane, Wash.) fired an opening round of three-under par 69 and is in second place just one stroke behind Stacy Lewis of Arkansas who shot 68 in her opening round on the par 72, 6,375-yard Jerry S. Rawls Golf Course.

Sophomore Noriko Nakazaki (Hanover Park, Ill.) finds herself in a 15-way tie for 19th after a solid day in which she carded a three-over par 75 (39-36). Finishing one-stroke in back of Nakazaki were Notre Dame teammates, Jane Lee (Fr., Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) and Stacy Brown (So., The Woodlands, Texas). Lee carded a pair of 38’s, while Brown shot a 39 on the front nine and 37 on the back. Junior Lauren Gebauer (Columbus, Ohio) is not far behind for the Irish as she shot a five-over par 77 (36-41).
