Scott Rodgers Named MLL Rookie Of The Week

June 29, 2010

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Former Notre Dame men’s lacrosse goalie Scott Rodgers recently was named the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Rookie of the Week. Rodgers, who plays for the Toronto Nationals, made five saves in the first half of an 11-9 victory over the Long Island Lizards on June 19 to secure the Nationals’ first win of the season. It was the second career start for Rodgers.

Rodgers, the seventh pick in the 2010 MLL Draft, has allowed 12 goals and made 24 saves during his first two career MLL games.

The two-time All-America honoree at Notre Dame was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2010 NCAA Championship as he helped lead the Fighting Irish to the title game. Rodgers led the nation in save percentage in both 2009 and 2010. He also led the country in goals-against average in 2009.

“It’s one of the things where I’m happy that I adjusted to the speed of the game [in the MLL] and the shots well and I didn’t get lit up, but we needed a W and I think that’s what the main goal is right now,” Rodgers said.” You just have to adjust, the games a lot faster, especially with the shot clock. You just have to roll with it.”
