Scott Rodgers And Kevin Ridgway On Team USA Roster For Champion Challenge

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Former University of Notre Dame men’s lacrosse All-Americans Scott Rodgers (G) and Kevin Ridgway (D) have been named to the U.S. Men’s National Team roster that will compete in January’s Champion Challenge at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

It will be a Fighting Irish reunion since Notre Dame will take part in the Champion Challenge for the third straight season. The Irish will square off against Rodgers, Ridgway and the rest of Team USA on Jan. 26. Notre Dame also will scrimmage Jacksonville University that day.

The U.S. National Team will meet defending NCAA champion Loyola on Jan. 27 in the eighth annual Champion Challenge.

This will be Rodgers’ third appearance in the Champion Challenge as a member of Team USA, while it’s the first selection for Ridgway.

Rodgers currently plays for the Hamilton Nationals of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) in addition to being a volunteer assistant coach for the Marquette University men’s lacrosse team. The 2010 Notre Dame graduate received All-America honors with the Irish in 2009 and 2010. He was named the 2010 NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player as he helped the Irish to a runner-up finish.

Kevin Ridgway

Ridgway, a 2011 Notre Dame graduate, was a standout defenseman for the Irish and received All-America honors as a junior and senior. He was a vital part of Notre Dame’s run to the national title game in 2010. The Nationals picked Ridgway in the third round (18th overall) of the 2011 MLL Draft.
