Notre Dame basketball captains Ryan Humphrey (Tulsa, Okla.) and David Graves (Lexington, Ky.) will participate in the 14th annual Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championship at the GSU Sports Arena on the campus of Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga., on Thurs., March 28 at 7:00 p.m. EST. ESPN will air the two-hour event on Sat., March 30 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. EST.

Humphrey, a first-team all-BIG EAST selection in 2002, is one of eight participants in the Slam Dunk contest, while Graves, an honorable mention all-BIG EAST choice, is one of seven collegians in the three-point shooting event.

Humphrey averaged 18.9 points and 10.9 rebounds during the 2001-02 season as the team’s leading scorer and rebounder. He also averaged 2.81 blocked shots and set the Notre Dame single-season blocked shot record mark with 87. In addition, his 2.77 blocked-shot average during his career set a new Notre Dame career mark. Humphrey also registered a double-double in the final 11 games of the season and led the Irish with 22 during the season.

Graves averaged a career-best 14.4 points as Notre Dame’s third-leading scorer in ’01-’02. He finished seventh on the all-time Irish career scoring points for a career of 13.4 point per game. Graves ranks as the school’s all-time three-point field goals made and steals leader. He played in all 130 games during his Notre Dame career – a school record.

Humphrey and Graves led the Irish to their third consecutive 20-win season as Notre Dame finished with a 22-11 while advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament for the second straight year.
