NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame sophomore sabreuse Francesca Russo has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Female Fencer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Russo was recognized following her performance at the Northwestern Duals, where she posted a 19-2 record while helping the No. 2 Irish women remain undefeated. Her 10-0 mark on Saturday helped the Irish defeat No. 8 Penn, No. 3 Princeton and No. 6 Ohio State, and she went 9-2 on Sunday with wins over No. 5 Northwestern, No. 9 Penn State and No. 10 Temple.

Russo, who is also the reigning NCAA women’s sabre champion, has gone 38-3 this season to improve her career record to 91-16. She and the Irish will return to action this weekend at the Duke Duals, where the men will compete Saturday, followed by the women on Sunday.
