Rowing Announces 2011 Fall Schedule

Sept. 12, 2011

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – As the University of Notre Dame rowing team sets off in search of its ninth consecutive BIG EAST crown in 2011, the Irish squad and head coach Martin Stone have announced the fall portion of the 2011-12 schedule. The four-race docket gets underway September 18.

The opener, which strays away from the usual Head of the Rock Regatta, will see the Irish take to the water against Michigan, Michigan State and Eastern Michigan in a four-team regatta beginning at 10:00 a.m. (ET) on Lake Belleville in Ann Arbor, Mich.

After a hiatus of over one month, the Irish will return to action at one of the most prestigious United States regattas, the Head of the Charles. The Irish applied and were granted a boat in the varsity four race. Action gets underway October 23 and is scheduled to run all day on the Charles River in Boston, Mass.

Notre Dame then heads down to Indianapolis, Ind., on November 6 for a dual race against Indiana. The competition is set to take place on the Eagle Creek Reservoir, the home facility of the Hoosiers rowing team.

One week later, the Irish conclude their fall slate with a regatta against three Big Ten foes – Ohio State, Michigan State and Indiana. The four teams will race on November 13 on the Griggs Reservoir at the Ohio State Rowing Center in Columbus, Ohio. This marks the second-consecutive season that the Irish conclude the fall against the Buckeyes, Spartans and Hoosiers.
