Rowing Annouces 2008 Spring Schedule

Notre Dame, Ind. – The Notre Dame rowing team, which has qualified for the team competition of the NCAA Championships each of the past two years, once again will face a challenging schedule against the nation’s best competition.

The Irish will open up the 2008 spring portion of its schedule against Northeastern on Sat., March 8 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. It will be one of three occasions in which Notre Dame will compete at Melton Lake during the season.

Three weeks later, the top Irish crews will head for the second straight year to Redwood Shores in Palo Alto, Calif., to compete in one of the top collegiate regattas of the season — the Windemere Real Estate Rowing Classic. The two-day event will take place Sat.-Sun., March 29-30.

That same weekend, remaining member of the team will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., for the Lubbers Cup on Sat., March 29.

Notre Dame travels to East Lansing, Mich., one week later to face Michigan State and Miami (Fla.) on Sat., April 5 and then heads to Indianapolis, Ind., to compete in the Indiana Invite at Eagle Creek on Sat., April l2.

The Irish travel east for a first-ever appearance in the Charles River Challenge, Sat.-Sun., April 19-20.

Looking for an unprecedented fifth consecutive BIG EAST crown Notre Dame returns to Oak Ridge for the BIG EAST Championships on Sun., April 27. It will mark the first time that the conference championship will be held at the Melton Lake venue.

The Central/South Region Championships will be held Sat.-Sun., May 17-18, followed by the NCAA Championships, Fri.-Sun., May 30 at the California State University Sacramento Aquatic Center in Sacramento, Calif.
